How Do
I ?
Make a
New Administrator
You can make any registered user an Administrator. Use the control panel
'User Info & Permissions' link to find the user and give 'Authorized Administrator'
status. When you know this is successful, delete the Admin5 user for security.
Change
My Password and Preferences
This is not a control panel function. On any regular UBB page use
the 'Profile' link to change your password and other personal information.
Use the 'Preferences' link to set your page view and cookie preferences.
Change
Colors, Fonts and Images
Use the Styles link to set master styles for the bulletin board. You can
set individual forum styles by using the Forums link and clicking 'details'.
You MUST 'Update Threads' in the control panel to apply the new settings
to your topics.
Upload
New Images
Use your FTP software to upload new images in binary to the NonCGI directory
you made. Then use the control panel Styles link to change the file name
to match the new image you wish to appear. See the UBB
Graphics Sets for examples.
Change
Basic Bulletin Board Options
The General Settings Link has all major options.
Change
Forum Names, Permission and Styles
Use the 'Forums' link to set all Forum options, including style, categories,
descriptions and privacy functions.
Change
User Permissions
Use the 'User Info & Permissions' to search for users. You can suspend
posting, grant access to private forums or delete the user entirely. If
you want to see individual permissions click the use name for more information.
Appoint
Moderators
Use the 'Set Moderators' link to add one or more moderators to a forum.
A moderator will have the right to close, move or edit messages in that
forum. A moderator must be a registered member of the bulletin board.
Maintain
the Bulletin Board
Use the 'Edit/Prune Messages' link to remove old topics from a forum or
delete all posts by a single user. Keeping old messages pruned helps your
bulletin board perform faster.
Add Banners
Advertisements?
Consult your banner add provider for the necessary HTML code. Cut and
paste this into the header or footer sections of your General settings.
You can make the code specific to any forum by using the forums ->
details section of the control panel. Note: 'SSI include' code will not
work in the UBB. Remember to use full URLS for links and images.
Make Announcements
The 'Announcements' links allow you to post a read-only message at the
top of any forum individually or all forums at once. Be sure to select
opening and closing dates carefully or the announcement will not appear.
Upgrade
My UBB
Obtain the latest upgrade zips at the Members area. Print out the Upgrade
Instructions and follow them carefully. All your members and messages
will be preserved.
Upgrade
to OpenTopic
If you upgrade to an OpenTopic
you can transfer over all your UBB members and messages to the new
system.
